Two years ago, we found ourselves standing at the edge of a big change.
Our two-year-old daughter was about to start full-day school. Until then, she had been with us almost every moment of her life. The thought of her spending most of her day away from home — navigating a new environment, new routines, and new people — felt daunting. As parents, we felt the familiar mix of love, worry, and helplessness that comes with watching your child step into something big before they're ready to explain how they feel.
We asked ourselves a simple question: What can we actually do to help her?
As an educator, Erika had always believed in the power of social stories — stories where children see themselves as the main character, experiencing situations that help them understand what's coming and how they might feel along the way. We read plenty of “going to school” books, but they never quite felt right. They weren't her. They didn't reflect her world, her routines, or her fears.
So we decided to make our own.
Using AI, we generated images and crafted a simple story in Google Slides — nothing fancy, just a few pages that showed her waking up, going to school, meeting teachers, and coming home again. That became our very first book.
When we read it to her, something shifted.
The transition wasn't tear-free — but it was faster than we ever expected. Within two weeks, she had settled into her new routine. She began to love school. Even now, she often picks up that same book, rereading it, pointing out the little details that belong to her. In those moments, we saw firsthand how powerful it is for a child to truly see themselves in a story.
That experience stayed with us.
As we spoke with other parents, we heard the same concerns again and again — sleep struggles, big emotions, hitting, new siblings, potty training, starting school. Childhood is full of transitions, and parenting often comes with the quiet feeling of wanting to help, but not knowing how.
“When our daughter saw herself in the story, she didn't just understand what was coming — she believed she could handle it. That's when we realized how powerful truly personal stories can be.”
We believe children deserve stories that reflect who they are and the world they live in — stories that act as emotional mirrors, confidence builders, and gentle guides through big feelings. When children recognize themselves in a story, it gives them strength. It helps them understand what's ahead and reminds them of what they're capable of.
AI became a natural part of this journey for us.
As parents of two, we've relied on AI in everyday life — from understanding health concerns to navigating sleep schedules and routines. We've found it to be a nonjudgmental, thoughtful assistant — one that helps us see situations from multiple perspectives, while still being guided by human care and intention. In our stories, AI is never the decision-maker; it's a quiet helper, thoughtfully shaped by human values and parental insight.
Above all, our values are simple and unwavering: privacy, safety, and thoughtfulness. We built this with families in mind, creating a tool we would trust with our own children — because we do.
This isn't meant to be a one-time solution. Childhood changes, and so do the challenges that come with it. Our hope is that whenever a new moment arises — whether anticipated or unexpected — parents have something tangible they can turn to. A story that helps their child feel seen, understood, and supported.
If you're here, chances are you're trying to help your child through something meaningful. We're honored to be part of that journey.
Create a story that feels like home — for your child.
